"My intention is to try and build a management team to handle things like sponsorship, marketing, team-building and track maintenance. If people think I can do it on my own, they are going to be a bit disappointed but I'm heartened the way people are stepping forward." Martin Widman reveals his plans to keep speedway going on the Isle of Wight.
THOMSON'S BIG BREAK
"I've been talking to Jason Crump. I do a little bit of work with him in the Aussie summer. He knew I was ready. I think that's how it came about. I was just desperate to get a ride and get my opportunity. I had one a couple of years ago but the way it went, it didn't work out well." Kye Thomson has upped his game since being handed a long-awaited Premiership opportunity with newcomers Northampton.
WOR AT PEACE
"You have to be mentally strong but there's so many little pieces that have to all join together before you get to that part. It's all right having shiny bikes and a big van but it doesn't win you races. I'm at ease with it. I can have a break from racing now and say to myself, 'I've achieved what I think I was capable of'." Having stepped back from racing himself, Steve Worrall has turned to coaching in an advisory role with Team GB.
